Left the Shelly beach top 10 caravan park in coromandel for the drive across the top of the peninsula. Roads are definitely windy, narrow, steep and beautiful! Gorgeous vistas where ever you look with fields of cows, thick forests and quiet roads. Our first stop was hot water beach two hours either side of high tide one can dig deep pools on the sand and sit in scalding got water from magna under the sands. Unfortunately we weren't there at the right time but walked along the beach and saw remnants if the pools dug out. From there we drive to hahei where we got on the 40 minute hike down to cathedral cove. It was a spectacular rock formation eroded by the sea to form gigantic arches and tunnels. The hike was spectacular taking us through thick forest and grasslands. Luckily we had no rain on the hike but it has been on and off all day. Now settled into Waihi beach for the night
